Match Report
Westbrook Hay Preparatory School Boys-U11s vs  Beechwood Park School
On: Wednesday, 22 Jan 2020
Venue: Away

On Wednesday 22 January, The U11As travelled to Beechwood Park to play in a Quadrangular festival with the hosts, Kingshott and Heath Mount in our first Rugby fixture of the term.

We started very brightly against Beechwood. Robust tackling, quick rucking and accomplished handling lead to a flurry of tries to establish an unassailable lead. The hosts threatened at times but WBH stretched the lead in the second half with some ruthless running and deft offloading. 7 tries to 0 the final score.

However, we didn't have it our own way in the other two games. Kingshott were a very well-disciplined and skillful side who were a bit more savvy than us. They knew where to exploit our weaknesses and exposed some naive defending. We fought hard in the second half but eventually went down 4-0.

In the final game, we played another impressive team in Heath Mount. It was a tough, tense and entertaining first half - even if the 0-0 scoreline suggested otherwise! Again, we completed extremely well and showed exciting handling skills but again it was our defensive mistakes which let them through in the dying minutes of the game.

However, it is important to recognise that there were some real positives to take from today. This is an extremely talented side and if we can work on our defensive line and body positions in the tackle then we can certainly avenge these losses later in the season.

Onwards and upwards!
